WHAT PEOPLE SAY

The Red Stags is a fun battle group that I have been a part of for two years. Every week you get to run around and smack people with swords and get smacked by swords (which don’t hurt), it’s a good community and your friends are always invited. There are leather workshops in the winter showing you how to make a helm or gauntlets. As parents you can stay and talk with other parents and just have a good old time. There is also a ranking system where the more you come and participate the more weapons and armor you can use. I really enjoy it and you might too!

The Middle Ages has always been a passion of mine and I was very excited to find this group that allowed me to and take a deep dive into my passion. Some of the great things I really enjoyed about this medieval group was the opportunity that it gave me to grow personally. I was able to pursue some of my hobbies such as leatherwork and archery in a completely new context. It allows me to explore new hobbies such as swordplay and armour construction. As well, I had many unique opportunities to grow through leadership roles. The most important of all was that I was able to find other people with like-minded interests which developed into lifelong friendships that extended outside the group itself.

This is a dynamic community that is full of wonderful people. All that I do for this group is because I love what it represents for me; it is a love of history, the thrill of being in a battle, and the companionship that I cannot find anywhere else. We come together for sword fights but leave with lasting friendships and a sense of belonging.
